Studies

InSIS

The registration process to our system (InSIS) is being done during the interview with you. You will be asked to choose the courses from the list provided and then, you should email them back to us, so that we can proceed the registration.

Timetable

Intensive course can be seen in your timetable as a “Block Class.” Due to more intensive courses in your timetable, you may view them as shown in the picture below. If you want to know which week you have which intensive course, you may filter your timetable depending on the dates in the calendar (as shown in the second picture).

 

VSE Email

To access your VSE E-mail account (the main and only contact between you and the university representatives; username@vse.cz) please log in to InSIS (insis.vse.cz) and click on Office365:

Sport courses

The list of sport courses offered at VSE is available HERE.
To register for a sport course, send us an email at exchange@vse.cz with the time and course code of the chosen course.

Internet

For using the Internet on the university campus, its facilities and dormitories, you need to connect to Eduroam Network. Eduroam is a wireless network operated by research and education institutions across Europe.

Configuration Procedure

  1. Set your password for eduroam (click on sign in; use your InSIS username and InSIS password to log in). You will be able to do so, after 24 hours after creating your InSIS account.
  2. Configure eduroam on the device. The comprehensive instructions are available here.

Visa

  • You must register with the foreign police within 30 days after your arrival. How to register?
    • You will receive a stamp in your passport/paper verifying the registration procedure.
  • The registration has two main advantages:
    • You will be allowed to study/work in the Czech Republic.
    • You will be covered by the VZP, insurance company
    • It is possible to travel to Schengen area countries, however, only for a total of 90 days within a 180 days period.

Public Transportation

Public transport in Prague is free of charge for Ukrainian citizens who entered the Czech Republic after February 24, 2022 and obtained special visa. You only need to show your Ukrainian passport with a toleration visa issued by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic or the Police of the Czech Republic to a controller upon request. More information is available here.

If this rule no longer applies, you can purchase monthly tickets using the application or the “Lítačka” website. You can find a step-by-step instruction to purchasing the ticket here.

VSE ID Card

The VSE student ID card is essential for accessing the school canteen, library incl. making copies and printing and also for entering the VSE buildings, including dormitories. You will obtain the VSE Student ID Card with an ISIC licence which is a VSE student ID card combined with the ISIC card. It entitles you to require discounts and other advantages in the Czech Republic as well as in other countries – the current list of discounts.
Once your VSE ID is ready, you will receive an automatic notification to your VSE e-mail account. You can collect it at the issue counter located next to the RB 101 auditorium when going from the Italská building to the Rajská building in Žižkov (plan here). Please respect the opening hours.

Psychological Counselling for English and Russian Speaking Students

VSE provides Academical Psychological Counselling which is free of charge to all VSE students.

  • If you are interested in Counselling offered in the English language, find further details and reserve your slot on the Academic Centre website here.

Other provides of Psychological Counselling:

  • Sluchátko” – phone line, which is available in Ukrainian language every Thursday from 9:00 till 11:00, and in English every Wednesday from 9:00 till 18:00
  • 1221” (option number 8) – phone line, that offers psychological support for ukrainian students as well (both in Czech and Ukrainian languages)

1. VSE Canteens
a) Pizza VŠEm:

Three or four sorts of pizza, salad, pasta and some desserts are offered daily.

b) Healthy Food (Zdravá výživa):

Many healthy meals are prepared for you. For example: couscous, fish, soup or vegetable.
Base Prices: soup: 25 CZK, main meal from 89 CZK, salad: 18 CZK  /100 g
Opening hours: Mon – Thu: 11:00 – 14:00, Fri: 11:00 – 13:30

c) Student Canteen AV Gastro – Menza:

Base prices: soup 20 CZK, main meal from 70 CZK
Opening hours: Mon – Fri: 8:00 – 10:00 (breakfast); 11:00 – 14:30 (lunch); 14:30 – 18:30 (dinner)

d) Canteen at Jarov Dormitories:

Canteen Jarov is located in the Jarov dormitory campus, in the headquarters building of the VSE Central Accommodation.
Opening hours: Mon – Fri: 11:00 – 15:00

2. Umbrella Pizza Bar

Find peaceful, delicious and homemade food canteen and café bar in the New Building. Menu is changed weekly and every main meal is offered with a soup.
Base prices: daily menu from 140 CZK (soup included)
Opening hours: Mon – Fri: 8:00 – 18:00

3. Kantýna VŠE:

Buy delicious refreshments during the breaks – fruit and vegetables, cookies and cakes, salads or burgers in the New Building, ground floor.
Opening hours: Mon – Thu: 8:00 – 18:00, Fri: 8:00 – 16:00

4. Café Ekonom:

Ideal place for having a break in Rajská Building (RB), 1st floor. Coffee, cakes, salads or baguettes offered.
Opening hours: Mon – Thu: 8:00 – 19:00, Fri: 8:00 – 17:00

5. Restaurant AK VŠE:

Restaurant in Italská Building, 3rd floor.
Base prices: main meal from 110 CZK or daily menu from 130 CZK
Opening hours: Mon – Fri: 11:00 – 19:00

6. Microwaves:

If you prefer to bring your own food, just use the microwaves on the 1st floor in Rajská Building (RB), next to the classroom RB 107.

Exchange Money/cheque

Money

Places where you can safely exchange your money (EUR / USD / GBP… to CZK) can be found here.

Please, keep in mind that you should:

  • Exchange money only at the official places (not on the street)
  • Always check the exchange rate at Czech Central Bank in advance so you will not experience any fraud or disadvantageous exchange rates

Cheque

The best place to exchange your cheque into money is Česká Spořitelna (Jugoslávská 2578/19, 120 00 Vinohrady). There is a bus stop in front of the VSE (Italská Building) and you need to take the bus number 135. Get off the bus at the station “Náměstí Míru” (3 stops from the VSE) – red line in the map below.
