We invite you to spend your exchange studies at Prague University of Economics and Business (VSE) in the beautiful city of Prague, Czech Republic. This page is here for you to understand what the process entails. We are looking forward to welcoming you at our university!

Freemover students are not accepted in this programme. Please refer to cesp.vse.cz. There are multiple criteria when considering the most suitable university for an exchange. Here is a list of criteria to consider before applying along with links to find information about our exchange programme. Read the Czech Visa and Insurance section carefully, especially if you are a non-EU citizen. Obtaining Czech Visa may be a lengthy process even for residents of other EU countries. Can you fulfill your duties as a student in Prague? Check out our Semester Dates, Course Offer & Grading. We require all Exchange students to enroll for at least 15 ECTS and have at least a B2 English level, however, no certificates are needed. All Exchange students will be offered to stay at VSE dormitories, more information can be found on the Housing section of our website. If any further questions arise, we will be happy to answer them. Contact us! The application process starts once you receive an email with login details (username and password) to the Integrated Study Information System-InSIS. It is essential to meet all deadlines. Follow the instructions to complete your application process.
If anything is missing in your application, we will contact you and give you a few days to provide additional information/documents. No automatic confirmation email is sent that you completed the Application. Once it is processed by the system, and if your application is filled in correctly, the official Letter of Acceptance will be issued and uploaded to your personal document storage in InSIS. You will receive an automatically-generated email notification in your VSE email inbox that your LoA is available. Application Completed, What Next?We will notify you by email when there are important deadlines coming up. Via email, you will also receive invitations to Online Supporting Sessions conducted for you to better understand how our university works, what is required and much more. In order to be notified by InSIS, you need to log in to your VSE email address. Here is how. You should also use this address when contacting the VSE staff, including your lecturers. Citizens of Schengen Area do not need a visa nor a permit to study in the Czech Republic. They only need a valid passport or another equivalent ID. Exchange students accepted to study at Prague University of Economics and Business (VSE) who are not EU citizens are required to have a long-term visa for the purpose of studies before arriving in the Czech Republic. MORE ON VISA HEREAll Exchange students are guaranteed to obtain university accommodation if they apply within the deadline. General information can be found in the Housing section of our website. If interested in University Accommodation, refer to the Dormitories Website for all information. Pay attention to the Time Schedule. If in doubts, contact the Dormitories Management (scroll down for contact information). Procceed with other steps (deposit payment, signing the contract) as described on the dormitories website. Get familiar with the semester dates in our Academic Calendar. All students are required to attend the Orientation Week organized for all incoming students one week before the semester starts. Make your arrangements based on the information available. Note: It is a student’s responsibility to register for their respective exam dates via InSIS from dates listed by their professors / departments. Exams generally take place during the Exam period. If a student wishes to finish all their exams during the last week of classes, it is upon agreement with the respective course supervisor. The supervisors generally enable students to fulfill all their academic duties before the teaching period ends.
You are invited to browse through our course offer for Exchange students, from which you can choose any combination of courses across all VSE faculties. As students are asked to enroll in their courses themselves using InSIS, you can do the course pre-registration as soon as the system allows it. Afterwards, the automated registration takes place where students are not directly involved. Do not forget about enrollment, which is the last stage of course registration that is based on time competition, so first come, first served! See the time schedule of the registration in the Academic Calendar – time and date changes every semester. You can fill in the Learning Agreement if your university requires you to do so. Citizens of EU countries, plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland, are entitled to the provision of necessary and urgent health care free of charge. It is only necessary that they have a certified E 128 form from their home country or a European Health Insurance Card, which replaces the paper forms needed. It is, however, highly recommended to enter into a contract with one of the commercial insurance companies. Starting from August 2, 2021, non-EU citizens staying in the Czech Republic longer than 90 days must contract comprehensive health insurance. In the Buddy Program you will be assigned to a local student (we call them Local Buddies) who will help you with all the difficulties you could experience during your stay. You can register here. Did you know that the Czech Republic has its own currency? Living in Prague can be very different to what you are used to. Please refer to the section here to have a better understanding of what to expect. Arrived in Prague?Prague has one of the best public transportation systems in Europe. The metro, trams and buses are used by two-thirds of Prague’s population and cover the majority of the city and outskirts. To learn more about how to buy tickets and benefit from public transport, check the link here. Please refer to the dormitories website for further information. First step is to order the card according to the guide. We advise to do so as soon as possible. Once your ID card is ready, you are going to receive an email notification to your VSE email account that your VSE ID card is ready for pick up. The office hours of the collecting point are listed on the IT Department website. Orientation Week (shortly OWeek) is organized for all incoming students one week prior to the beginning of each semester. Generally, students get familiar with the university, city and culture. They gain the necessary information for their start at VSE and in the Czech Republic. The program as well as further information can be found here.
After the first week of classes ends, no changes can be made to the courses students enroll in. Therefore, all students have to check that only the courses they wish to study during the respective semester of their Exchange studies in Prague are in their timetable in InSIS as these are the courses that will be listed in the student’s official Transcript of Records. If necessary, changes to the Learning Agreement can be made when the drop / add period is over. The Confirmation of Arrival, a document confirming the start of the studies and the student’s presence in Prague will be issued for students after they pick up their VSE ID card. As the documents are generated to all students, we ask for your patience. This document will be issued to the InSIS Document Storage (section “Study”) under the name “Letter from Study Department”.
During your Exchange StudiesDuring your Erasmus here at Prague, you will be able to participate in many events that can help you meet other international students as well as local Czech students. VSE organizes a variety of events every year which cover the academic, sports and cultural advantages of living in Prague. ESN VSE Prague is a student organization that helps you make connections and offers numerous activities to discover the university and the city life. As a student, you will have access to many services that can aid you during your studies. We have accessible Computers and Printers at the university, a student Library and various Eating Facilities. If you have some specific (personal) problems with studying or getting used to the new surroundings, you can contact the Academic Psychological Counselling. For students with disability, the Centre for Students with Special Needs (CSP) is there to provide support and help in various areas. During your studies, InSIS will be the main platform where you can register for courses and examinations, submit homeworks, check for your grades… However, in some courses, lecturers may opt for using LMS Moodle where you can check course materials and complete requirements, or MS Teams. Provided that the on site teaching delivery is in place throughout the whole Semester, all Exchange students will be given a chance to finish their exams of regular courses during the last week of classes, if agreed with the lecturer (please take a look at the Academic Calendar). Should the student receive 50 – 59 points as the total for a course, they will be given an opportunity to retake a final exam for this course during the exam period. Consequently, if the students do not retake the final exam, they will be given a failing grade for the course. Exchange students are more than welcome to take exams also during the exam period upon previous agreement with the lecturer. When it comes to the administrative part of the Exchange, the real date of the last exam (oral or written) will appear on the Confirmation of study period. Students coming in the framework of Erasmus+ programme should make sure that their total number of days at VSE exceeds 90 days, which is the required minimum of the programme. Wrapping up Your ExchangeYou will be sent two forms as the end of the semester approaches. The End of Study Overview is needed so that we can issue your final mobility documents. We would be grateful for you to fill in our Feedback form as it would help us improve the services we offer to Exchange students. If you have money left on the VSE ID card from any of the canteens, you can withdraw it in the cash register of the respective canteen. Money for copying and printing can be refunded at the office SB 22. The VSE ID card will remain your property even after your departure. Do not forget to pay all your debts in the VSE library. If the financial liabilities are not met, the Transcript of Records cannot be issued. Follow the procedure for moving out and handing over your room. The resident must move out no later than the end date of their ISKAM accommodation. When you move out, you must restore your room to its original condition. The room is handed over clean, including the facilities (kitchen and bathroom). Please, take a close look at the Accommodation Agreement (see the related webpage) and follow the rules related to the notice period. In general, do not forget to pay all the debts and return the keys. If all your debts are not paid, the Transcript of Records cannot be issued. The Confirmation of Study Period is a document confirming General Academic Dates as well as the student’s individual dates, such as the day when the student’s studies at VSE were initiated and the last exam date (a test or an oral exam, not seminar paper submissions). The document will be issued following the end of their Exchange Programme at VSE and can be found in the InSIS Document Storage (section “Study”). |
